One of the world's Premier Amp builders is now pleased to present his own guitars, worthy of the TopHat name!

Brian Gerhard has long-been established as one of the greatest amp designers on the planet. His amps have graced the stages of pros from Walter Becker to My Morning Jacket, with every style of music in between.  Brian knows amps and he knows good tone.....but he's not a luthier. So when he decided he wanted to build a line of guitars that spoke to him as well as to other pros out there, he decided to put together a crack team of luthiers that were up to the task.

The Workshop Model

Violin makers have a long-standing tradition of building their instruments through the workshop model. Long ago builders in that tradition learned that the way to build the best instruments was to establish a team of builders that were each at the top of there game in different aspects of the build, and to let those builders be free to do the work that was most appropriate for each individual one. Brian looked at this model and realized that this was the best way to build guitars as well, so he put together a crack team, each renowned for their specific talents, and tasked them with working together to build one-of-a-kind guitars, specifically designed for players. The result is what you see here. True masterpieces, all individual pieces, that are curated specifically for discriminating players.

All set-neck guitars are currently build by Chris Fleming. All final assembly is done by James Carney. Brian Gerhard oversees the QC and inspects every guitar prior to shipping.
